Hochstamm keeps your orchard's records — trees, harvests, press results and box dates — only on your own device. The app has no server, no account, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing you enter ever leaves your phone or tablet unless you personally choose to share or export it.
What Hochstamm stores
Everything you record in Hochstamm — your orchard plan, tree varieties and planting years, harvest weights, pruning and blossom notes, press bookings, pressing results, litres, box counts and box dates, your juice-yield rate, and any photo you attach to a tree — is written to local storage on your device only (in the app's own sandboxed storage area and, for a handful of small preferences, in Apple's on-device UserDefaults store). None of this data is transmitted anywhere. Hochstamm does not have a server or a backend of its own.
Camera and photo library
If you choose to photograph a tree, Hochstamm asks for camera access at that moment, and the picture is saved locally with that tree's record. If you choose to pick an existing picture instead, Hochstamm asks for photo library access and uses Apple's standard picker, which only shares the one photo you select — Hochstamm never gets a broader view of your library. Either way, the photo stays on your device and is only ever shown inside the app.
Notifications
Hochstamm can remind you about a press date you've booked, or that a box you opened is nearing its use-by date. These are local notifications scheduled on your device from the dates you type in; Hochstamm does not use a push notification service and no data about you is sent to Apple or anyone else to make this work.
What we do not collect
- No account, sign-in or personal profile of any kind
- No analytics, crash reporting or usage tracking
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers
- No location data
- No data shared with third parties, because none is collected in the first place
Your data, your device
Because everything stays local, deleting the app deletes your orchard's records with it. Hochstamm has no way to back up your data to a server and no way to recover it once the app is removed, so make your own copy (for instance with a screenshot or the share option on a season) if you want to keep a record outside the app.
Children
Hochstamm is a household record-keeping tool with no sign-in, no social features and no advertising, and is not directed at children specifically. It does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect personal data at all.
Changes to this policy
If Hochstamm ever changes what it stores or how, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
